EVALUATION OF THE PHARMACOTHERAPEUTIC PROFI LE OF THE HYPERDIA GROUP IN THE FAMILY HEALTH UNIT

Abstract

One of the most important factors for controlling hypertension and diabetes is adherence to pharmacological treatment. This is a crossectional research with quantitative approach conducted at Family Health Unit Casarão do Cordeiro in Recife, PE, from May to July 2019. According to the results, 72.5% of Hiperdia users were women and most are over 50 years old. Hypertension was the most prevalent condition among participants. There was a high rate of people taking fi ve or more medications. About 90% said they knew that diabetes and hypertension are chronic diseases that can be controlled with diet and medication, but most do not know which organs can be aff ected by these diseases. Only 17.7% demonstrated to follow the treatment correctly. About 57% of the participants had their blood pressure (BP) altered at the time, which may be directly related to low adherence to treatment. Thus, the importance of developing interdisciplinary health education actions for the management and better control of hypertension and diabetes in such patients is evident.
