PHARMACEUTICALS WAREHOUSING AT PUBLIC PRIMARY HEALTH CENTERS AT MACAÍBA, RN, BRASIL

Abstract

 This study evaluated the pharmaceuticals warehousing in 22 primary health care units of Macaíba, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, during January to March 2012. For this, it was performed spot checks of the local infrastructure and the service routine was observed. Also, the Guidelines for Inspection form, based on the RDC nº 44/09, from Anvisa, was filled to provide subsidies to contextualize the role of the pharmacist forward to pharmaceutical services. For identification and analysis of the dosage forms and respective expiration dates, it was used the National List of Essential Drugs and The Municipal Drugs Essentials List. Pharmacists were not present at any of the observed pharmacies, as well as manual on drug storage, humidity and temperature control were not found. Pharmaceuticals with expired dates were found in all observed pharmacies, covering 1395 dosage forms, belonging to 31 different drug classes. The results reveal the precariousness of the Centers and their pharmacies, which implies the need for more intense activity on the part of managers, health surveillance and regional and federal Pharmacy Councils.
